TIPPERARY CORPORATION ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF LEE SAMPLE TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

DENVER, Colorado --Tipperary Corporation (AMEX-TPY), an independent energy company, today announced the appointment of D. Leroy Sample to its board of directors. The appointment expands the Company's board from six to seven members. Sample retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1999 after 24 years as a general practice partner with significant involvement in accounting, auditing and financial reporting for both public and private companies.

Sample was with the Chicago office of the firm for more than 36 years. Most recently, he was the engagement partner for several major Real Estate Investment Trusts and real estate companies. Sample's clients also have included a number of industrial and oil and gas companies. Sample received a bachelor's of business administration degree from the University of Iowa and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Tipperary's CEO and Chairman David L. Bradshaw said, "Lee joins us with extensive commercial and financial expertise. We are very pleased to welcome him to the board of directors."
